since i got the control software working for the big loom by tricking silly windows 2000 into thinking a missing package existing, ive now been thinking about what design softare we could use long term. something that is accessible (not blocked behind a paywall), portable and supported (actively being developed through University of Boulder) and i cant help but think using new open source software could be a nice bow on top of this project. i've been playing around and looking at adacad source code on my local machine and once i verify it works i can put up a PR to the adacad crew to suggest adding it. adacad is a great open source project from the unstable design lab. the documentation is good and the source code is online, so i can play with it.
also now that i have much clearer technical picture of the jacquard loom control software (Ironicaly named AIweaver, but is 20 years old and has nothing to do with AI), the specs, and the tech, it is easier to see what an integration or export would need.
