mapping cm2 gray code to a 12 shaft threading

mel asked me to weave something for this cool exhibition she curated at the national communications museum. she was geeking out over their new acquisition of the cm-2. i read up on it to learn what was so cool about it and found some strong overlaps with how that machine and my multi shaft peg plan loom work. it routes on a 12-dimensional hypercube, my loom works on a 12 dimentional matrix shaft based system (a form of binary algerbra). i mapped these 12 bits from the grey code algorithm to the 12 shafts on my loom in the threading sequence.

a two word message is then encrypted in the cloth. the letters are weaving drafts, you match the weave down the left side and read top to bottom. across that row, the cm-2 threading sequence scrambles the draft. the second picture is the first draft of the tool i wrote for it. the liftplan is in the code, the drawdown is the ui beside it, and cm-1 is at the top.
